The postmodern principle I used was text and image. I also used layering. I used watercolor as the background and then printed on a bird. I did some letters under the bird. I am printing a bird with my Grandpa's name under it because he really liked birds. One of the studio habits of mind I used was express. I expressed my grandpa's love for birds. Another studio habit of mind I used was observe. I observed by looking at my print block and making sure the things that I didn't want printed were cut short enough.
Appropriation - when you take images from somewhere else and make them mean something else. Recontextualization - when you take something out of its original context and use them for a new purpose. Juxtaposition - Making ordinary things look different Hybridity - bringing together two cultures - or - exploring multiple medias within an artwork. Text and Image - when you have an artwork with pictures and words and they clash or give a new meaning. Representin' - represent your own life. The Gaze - when you have a portrait looking somewhere else Layering - putting together multiple layers The postmodern principle I think that I am going to use is Text and Image. The reason I chooses this one is because I think I will have lots more options than the other ones.
Reflection: I like the final product. It is kind of messy so I wish it was a little neater, but other than that I think it turned out good. The technique I picked was cutting some off as I went. Some struggles I had was not doing it right the first time so I had to completely restart. Studio Habits of Mind: One of the SHoM I used was develop craft. I think that I did soft Kut one other time but I don't remember for sure so this felt like the first time that I ever did it. I also used it in a new way. The second SHoM I used was envision. I had to think of what part I would have to cut off next to get the picture I wanted.
