I think that my best artwork this semester is the flower, river and tree one. I love all the colors and I love the way the tree turned out. I would like to redo my burts bees chapstick one. I messed up the pattern a little and it was really sloppy. I learned how to express my emotions and feelings. I haven't ever really done that before. I liked when I had extra time and I made a monster with clay so I wish we could have done something with that even though it isn't 2D.

White background with a yellow minnesota taking up most of the space. Black outline around minnesota. Pictures of people and things like schools, animals, movies and books, a house and a restaurant. Drawn images of food, drinks, words, places, and other random things. Colorful collage that takes up most of the minnesota drawing. Painted and drawn/colored. First I used some white paint stuff on the background. Then I drew the state of Minnesota and painted it in with yellow acrylic paint. Then I out lined it. I drew a bunch of pictures and then colored them and cut them out. I printed off a bunch of pictures and cut them out. I placed the pictures down first and laid them out how I wanted them to be and mod-podged them down. Then I laid down the drawings and moved them around to how I wanted them to look and then I mod-podged them down. After that dried I mod-podged the whole thing over one more time. I am expressing my identity. I am showing the people and things that are important to me. I have pictures of my family and friends because they are important to me. I have pictures of my animals because I love them. I have my house because that is where I live. My favorite book and movie. My favorite restaurant. And I also have the two schools that I have been to. The drawings I have are some summery things because I love summer and it is my favorite season. A puzzle piece because I love to set puzzles. Books because I like to read. The word quiet because I am shy. The "Big Brother" logo because that is my favorite tv show. A cupcake because I like to bake. An American flag because I am American. A plane because I like to travel. A hammer showing that I am hardworking. The word english because I speak that language but it is also my favorite subject in school. A cross to show that I am christian. A calendar to show my birthday. A fire to show that I like fires. The YouTube icon to show that I like watching that. A plant to show that I like to garden. Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower because them are two places that I would love to travel to. Bubbl'r because that is my favorite drink. Chocolate because I like chocolate. A volleyball and a golf club to show the sports that I am in. Country music because I like it. And an A+ because I am smart. My goals for this artwork was to show my final identity and things that are important to me. I like it a lot it is my favorite artwork and I don't think anything is wrong with it.
One of the Studio Habits of Mind I am using is envision I am thinking about how I want my artwork to look and making it the way I want it. Another Studio Habit of Mind I am using is express. I am showing what things make me me. I am sharing people and things that are important to me.
My plan from the beginning has not changed. The thing that I am most proud about on my artwork is the things that I drew. The thing that is not going that well is I made my pictures too big so now they take up all the space and I don't have enough room for my drawings. One of the studio habits of mind I am using is express. I am showing all the things that I like and the things that make me, me. Another studio habit of mind I am using is observe. While I am planning my artwork I am looking at how I can lay it out to make it look the best. My inspiration Is things that I like. I am planning to make a collage with pictures and things I drew. Resource images.
The postmodern principle I used was text and image. I also used layering. I used watercolor as the background and then printed on a bird. I did some letters under the bird. I am printing a bird with my Grandpa's name under it because he really liked birds. One of the studio habits of mind I used was express. I expressed my grandpa's love for birds. Another studio habit of mind I used was observe. I observed by looking at my print block and making sure the things that I didn't want printed were cut short enough.
Appropriation - when you take images from somewhere else and make them mean something else. Recontextualization - when you take something out of its original context and use them for a new purpose. Juxtaposition - Making ordinary things look different Hybridity - bringing together two cultures - or - exploring multiple medias within an artwork. Text and Image - when you have an artwork with pictures and words and they clash or give a new meaning. Representin' - represent your own life. The Gaze - when you have a portrait looking somewhere else Layering - putting together multiple layers The postmodern principle I think that I am going to use is Text and Image. The reason I chooses this one is because I think I will have lots more options than the other ones.
Reflection: I like the final product. It is kind of messy so I wish it was a little neater, but other than that I think it turned out good. The technique I picked was cutting some off as I went. Some struggles I had was not doing it right the first time so I had to completely restart. Studio Habits of Mind: One of the SHoM I used was develop craft. I think that I did soft Kut one other time but I don't remember for sure so this felt like the first time that I ever did it. I also used it in a new way. The second SHoM I used was envision. I had to think of what part I would have to cut off next to get the picture I wanted.
Adam Hale's craftsmanship is done very well, I think that he has lots of skill with collages he knows how to make them work. The design is super good and it gets the point across. I have never seen anything like this it is super original. Overall I think hs artwork is really successful.
1. In my artwork here is a river with a wooden bridge that crosses over it. On one side of the river is a field of a bunch of colorful flowers that fills up most of the page. On the other is a weeping willow tree. The ground covers up most of the painting so there is hardly any sky.
2. I used paint for my final artwork. First I started out by thinking about what I wanted to do and then I sketched it. I practiced some techniques and then started on my final draft. 3. I created this artwork because I love flowers rivers and weeping willows. When I am older I want to have this exact place with a swing under the weeping willow so I can read a book and relax. 4. I wanted to make a realistic landscape that draws me to it. 5. I think my artwork turned out really well. It wasn't what I was expecting but it still looks good. I thought it would look more realistic. |
